I have practiced in a wide variety of settings including a clinical practice, schools, hospitals and major corporations. My practice now combines my psychology and therapy training with my passion and for Neuroscience and Mindfulness. Mindfulness can help…

Mindfulness is a simple practice that you can do anywhere. You can incorporate it into your daily life to help break the cycle of anxiety, stress, unhappiness, and exhaustion.

Mindfulness promotes happiness and peace and becomes more powerful the more you practice it. It becomes part of you and helps you deal with the stressful situations that life presents with new courage and presence.

HAPPINESS IS AN INSIDE JOB
Mindful happiness involves the happiness you feel inside of yourself in this moment of time. Period. It does not include whether you were happy yesterday or even a half hour ago. It doesn’t matter if you will be happy tomorrow or in twenty minutes. It has nothing to do with your predisposition to happiness. It is only the happiness that you feel right now at this very second..

Many of us get trapped into wishing for happiness in the future, based on the outcome of events and circumstances over which we have little or no control. I call this “Standby Happiness” and is it not in any way mindful happiness. Through my own life challenges, I created something called Mind Tools to help myself…and now others…bring happiness into their lives.

Through my book ,Lost , Found & Rewired: Mind Tools to Shift You From Stressed and Frazzled to Calm and Vital,  I guide people on how the brain works and how you can get it to work for you.

QUESTIONS TO PONDER?
A spiritual leader once told me to make a list of what makes me happy. Doing this activity inspired me to carefully consider the entire concept.

What would you write on your list?

When I wrote my list years ago, the majority of my list involved making other people in my life happy. (Spending time with my family, volunteering, traveling with my kids). All of that is nice, but once I looked at it I wondered, “Is this what is at the core of what makes me happy? Is my happiness all centered outside of myself?”

In reality, are the people we surround ourselves with responsible for our happiness? Or is happiness more of an inside job?

How do you define happiness?

Is your happiness contingent on external events or circumstances or people?
