Holidays, a time to check how you really feel.
Did you ever realize this? For every task that you check off, three more will appear.
Hello and welcome to the holidays!
Breathe, Blink and Be Present.
Starting on Black Friday, you could feel the energy shifting in the air. Such a contrast from the day before, when we all were stuffed and lazy from eating way too much turkey and pie. This is a challenging time to stay mindful. Our brains are in overdrive with all of our multi-tasking. When that happens, we start feeling tired, frustrated, forgetful and overwhelmed. This is when I put the laundry in the dryer and go back the next day and realize that I never turned it on. This is also true of the dishwasher. Should I also mention the box of bottled water that I left in the grocery cart? These are signs! Slow down, take a pause. Along deep breath and a slow exhale. Give yourself some breathing room during the next few weeks. Take a short step back. The demands are always going to be there. The constant place of always doing. The tasks in December multiply before your very eyes. For every task you check off the list, three more will appear. It’s hard to even imagine taking 10 minutes for yourself on a mindfulness activity.
If you can’t carve out a chunk of time each day during the holiday session, just take one or two minutes to pause, breathe and pause. Try this 3 or 4 times in a day. It can be at a red light or even when you are waiting in a long checkout line. Check in with yourself. Listen to yourself. What is your intention in this minute? Reflect and be curious.
If you are within a group of people and feel stressed, take a moment. Are you really listening to what is being said right now? Where is your focus? Getting through the holidays has much to do with your approach and mindset as well as setting boundaries. Be good to yourself and remember the word “NO”. This is supposed to be a happy time of celebration.
Stay in your lane and be mindful.
Enjoy each moment as it comes, m i n d f u l l y .
((Hugs)) And Cheers!
